Rad smashed a bottle onto the sidewalk in a fit of rage, pulling a pistol from the back of his waistband in the same motion. He waved it toward the car that was speeding away down the street and screamed a stream of vicious threats.

Badrick ran out through the Mission doorway, waving his hands. “Rad… put that gun away, mon! What ya be doin’?”

“Those were the guys that shot at us—those…!” He went on, releasing a blizzard of noxious curses. Then he turned to Jay Jay and Scamp: “ They’ve been hauntin’ us long enough. I swear they’re going down—they’re going down hard!”

Rad looked at his gun in disgust, shoving it into his belt. “We’re takin’ ‘em down,” he vowed angrily.

Badrick yelled after him as he stormed off, trying to talk sense into him. But Rad was oblivious in his fit of rage.

“Should we chase after them?” One of the Mission workers asked.

“Too dangerous,” Badrick answered regretfully. “He’s in an evil way. We need to be praying’ fer that boy. That’d be de best we can do fer him now.”
