Stimulation

The median and ulnar CMAPs were evoked with a bar stimulating electrode. The stimulations were at the wrist, on the median nerve (S1), and on the ulnar nerve (S2), proximal to the wrist crease. Author stimulated both the median and ulnar nerves at the wrist (S1 and S2, respectively) to compare the median and ulnar sensory latencies in the same and opposite hands [1]. Author used percutaneous supramaximal rectangular stimulation. In order to measure the forearm velocity both for the median and ulnar nerves, the proximal stimulation for the median nerve was applied at the internal bicipital groove and for the ulnar nerve above the median epicondylar groove. Only subjects with normal forearm velocity (over 50 m/s) were included in the study.
