The next morning I was up at 5:00 a.m. I kissed Jill on her forehead, told her I loved her and left the room. After a shower and breakfast I changed into the multi-cam fatigues that had been left for me. My black plate carrier had been changed out for a tan one. Instead of all black,

now I was in head to toe multi-cam or tan. The black cover had been removed from my helmet and replaced with a tan one. I grabbed my gear and headed out the door. The mission briefing was at seven in the parking lot.

I arrived to find my team and the requested vehicles. There were two Hummers and the five-ton. Mike Taylor and I would be in the lead Hummer, Alex and Dan would be in the middle in the five -ton, and Mark, Marcus and Amanda would be in the last Hummer. All of us were wearing the multi-cam.

I stopped about twenty feet from the vehicles. "Everyone in a line right here, right now!" I shouted. It caught everyone off-guard but they formed up in front of me quickly enough. I cleared my throat and began to speak loudly. "Today we are going to town to make a trade deal with whoever is in charge down there. We will make a deal or we will bring all of this food back here. We will not be giving it away to an ungrateful city leadership. Expect anything and everything that may come our way. IF we get in a fight, we fight to win but let me remind you that there ARE innocents down there. All of you have been briefed by Allan this morning and I hope you paid attention. We only get one chance to make a lasting impression. I want that impression to be one of awe and fear. Are we clear?"

"YES SIR!" everyone answered in unison.

"Mount up! We leave in five!" I said. Everyone scrambled to their assigned vehicle. I walked to the lead Hummer and climbed in on the passenger side. Mike had it running when I got in. My AR was laying across the center console alongside his. Every member of the team was issued one of the military grade, suppressed ARs. Mike looked at me and I nodded to him. He dropped it in gear and we rolled out.
