After visiting Sam in the hospital on Friday morning, Adam headed to his office to sign off a few contracts. Lily still didn't know that he had personally calculated her quote. He had a sales and finance team – an office staff compliment of 27 with at least 110 drivers throughout the country. Rapid Deliveries was a giant in the logistics industry.

Thankfully, most in Sapphire Bay didn't know that. While Adam always prioritised the local community, he was grateful that many didn't use Rapid Deliveries. If they knew a multi-millionaire lived amongst them, his life would be hell.

When he got to the office, Lily was on his mind. Heck, she was on his mind more often than she should be. After last night, he was 100% certain that he wanted to get to know her. The sex would just be a perk. The real reward would getting to know her. He shook his head. Maybe he should stop reading the The Heartbroken Florist's posts. He was starting to think too deeply.

When he called her 15 minutes ago, he didn't expect that she would be drunk at noon on a Friday. Gin Gin Friday. Was that even a thing?

He parked the car and looked around.

Lily's grandmother's property stretched across a plot of land that started at the edge of a lake and ended on the top of a grassy hill. It was out of a storybook.

"Come on in. You cannot stand there all day in the sun."

He looked towards the house. A woman, approximately 75 years old, stood in the doorway. He obeyed.

"Good afternoon, Ma'am," he said.

The woman started laughing.

"Ma'am. Oh stop that. It's Gran," she said.

But she didn't look like a Gran. Adam knew he was stereotyping but he couldn't help it. Lily's grandmother looked like she walked off a 1940s runaway. She wore a vintage summer dress. Her grey hair sat in curls on her shoulder and her red lipstick stained her lips.

"Good afternoon, Gran," he said.

"That's better. Now come on in. We can have lemonade while you tell me your intentions with my granddaughter," she said and turned around for him to follow.

Adam pulled at the collar of his work golfer. He definitely was starting to feel like he was in the hot seat.

She led him into a modern farmhouse kitchen where she gestured for him to sit on a bar stool at the counter. She busied herself with pouring the lemonade.

"I've given Lily a cup of coffee and she is having a short nap. Not everyone can handle Gin Gin Fridays," she said.

Adam nodded like he knew what she was talking about.

"So you're Adam Walker, thirty years old and the director of Rapid Deliveries. And you're James Walker's son," she said.

"You know my father?"

Gran walked to the refrigerator, pulled out ingredients for sandwiches and made her way back to the counter.

"When your dad was a kid, my husband was the only doctor in town. I used to be his nurse. I don't think I could ever forget James.
