To wrap up this chapter, here are a couple assignments to start you on your way toward planning a support team for your company.

#1 CREATE A DREAM ORGANIZATIONAL CHART (1–2 HOURS)

Your first assignment is to draw out a “dream” organizational chart for your company. You’ll see what I mean as you do the steps.

Step 1. List all of the jobs, large and small, that you currently do for your company. I know it can be a little overwhelming to write down all your responsibilities, including ones you might be doing without even thinking. But remember, you’re trying to figure out how to keep track of all that work so you can build a team and create some systems (see the next chapter) to streamline your efforts.

If you’re having a hard time doing this through abstract thinking, no problem. Commit over the coming week to writing down every task you do throughout each day. Just watch and record; take notes. After one week, it’s likely that you’ll have listed most of your responsibilities and have some insights into all the work you actually do.
