Pan-Seared Brussels Sprouts with Bacon
Makes 2 servings
A go-to side dish in our house. We love Brussels sprouts, and your family will, too, after you try this recipe!
3 slices thick-cut bacon, cut into ½-inch dice
12 ounces frozen Brussels sprouts, thawed and cut in half lengthwise
3 cracks black pepper
½ teaspoon salt
⅛ teaspoon garlic powder
1 tablespoon unsalted butter
1. Cook the bacon in a medium skillet over medium-low heat until crispy. Remove the bacon from the pan with a slotted spoon and reserve 1 tablespoon of the bacon grease in the pan.
2. Add the Brussels sprouts to the pan and toss in the fat. Cover and cook, stirring every 2 minutes or so, for 15 minutes.
3. Remove the lid and increase the heat to medium. Continue to cook, stirring occasionally, for 4 minutes, or until the Brussels sprouts are golden brown. Add the pepper, salt, garlic powder, and butter, and toss to coat. Crumble the bacon on top and serve.
Pro tip:
I love using frozen Brussels sprouts for this recipe because they just seem to come out perfect every time! You can use fresh, but keep an eye on them as they may need additional cooking time to become tender.
