How to use this book
It is assumed that when you picked up this book, you will already know a thing or two about baguazhang, qigong or the I-Ching. And that you are either wanting to deepen your learning or, more likely, you have gotten stuck in your training.
If it is about going deeper, then a strong suggestion a.k.a. recommendation is to look at the images and allow one's subconsciousness to learn it in the way it wants to learn.
The reward will be a key insight or realisation that will make things easy again.
Now I know, for some people realisation equates to enlightenment, as in spiritual enlightenment. But nine times out of ten, enlightenment is closer to switching on the lights when it is dark. We see things better when the lights are on. There's nothing profound about it. It just is so.
However, to a person who cannot comprehend this, for them the darkness is a way to avoid seeing the very thing getting them stuck. And so, when they see you avoiding the stuckness (because you saw it when you switched on the lights), it looks like to them that you can do magic.
And as you can see: Where's the magic?
There is no magic gongfu. You're just not allowing the darkness to blind you.
Now then...
If you already know how to consult the I-Ching, then the illustrations will enhance your understanding of it. Hence, I have not bothered to include instructions.
For most baguazhang practitioners, the first lot of instructions above usually will suffice.
If you are left wanting, for something more, add your own notes at the bottom of each illustration as you grow to realise them from within yourself.
The key is to keep your notes as concise or brief as possible. Maybe just one word will do. It's up to you to come up with your own conclusions. And those conclusions will be a personal dialogue between you and your subconscious just like yin and yang.
