Twenty-two

Cade returned that evening with a large bag of Chinese takeout in hand. “Hey, sweetheart. I took a chance and decided to surprise you with dinner. I hope you like Chinese.”

I eagerly took the bag from him and placed it at a table while Cade locked the door behind him, switching the “Open” sign to “Closed.” He shut the blinds in all the windows, and the bakery darkened and became an intimate, romantic setting for just the two of us.

I sat down, grateful to be off my feet. “I’m exhausted. I guess I need to work on my stamina because between the crazy monkey sex and the lack of sleep, I’ve been dragging all day.”

I started unpacking our dinner.

“Crazy monkey sex, huh?” Cade puffed out his chest and looked proud, making me laugh. “Well, you just relax. I’ll get us something to drink to go with our dinner, and we can just hang out tonight. I promise to get you in bed early.”

“As long as by getting me in bed early, you mean you’ll get me naked and beneath you.” I blushed as soon I spoke, and Cade smiled at my flushed cheeks.

“Look at you, you brazen hussy. I guess I can make that sacrifice and give you what you want.” He finished pouring our sweet tea and brought the glasses over to the table.

“Are you sure you are up to the job? I wouldn’t want to put you out. In fact, if you aren’t feeling up to it, it’s okay.” I couldn’t resist teasing him.

Cade flashed me a look of alarm, not sure if I was teasing or not. “I’m up to it. Boy, am I up to it.” He waggled his brows suggestively, making me laugh yet again. “I promise you, I’m the man for the job.”

I handed him a carton of steamed white rice to go with his sweet and sour chicken, and we ate in silence for a while, both of us a little worn down.

I passed him an egg roll. “I know I am new to this sex thing, but I do think I could get addicted.”

Cade grinned. “I have every intention of getting you addicted.” He dipped his egg roll in a little soy sauce and offered me a bite. “Last night was just the beginning.”

“Sounds good to me, but let’s don’t forget I have to get up super early every day.” I munched on my bite of egg roll for a moment. “But at least the weekend is finally here. I’m open on Saturdays, but I close right after lunch. And Sunday is my day off.” I thought that over and reconsidered my words. “Not that I really get days off right now. Too much to do. Sundays I usually catch up on paperwork, order supplies, that kind of thing.”

“I’ll tell you what. We will have lots of monkey sex tonight, and I will get you in bed at a decent hour. And this weekend I will help you with the business so you will have time to catch up on your rest.
