‘I think this place is wrong. We need to get out of here as soon as we can!’

D.J. nodded at him and wrote.

‘I agree, but how? There’s a lot of them!’

‘As soon as it gets dark and they go to sleep we will make our move. They probably only have a couple guards at most. Just follow my lead.’

Brian kept an eye on his watch. When it was 2AM, he woke D.J. up and motioned for her to stay quiet. He went to the bathroom and shoved a towel down the toilet and began flushing it until it overflowed. Then grabbing their belongings, he and D.J. went to the door to leave. Brian went to open the door and found it locked from the outside!

“No!” He whispered. “I didn’t even notice the lock is on the wrong side! That’s what they meant about making this room ready for visitors. They don’t want us wandering around or leaving without permission!”

“What are we going to do?” Asked D.J.

Brian smiled at her. “How long have we known each other? Do you really think a simple locked door is going to stop me?”

Reaching down into his right boot, Brian came up with a folding knife. Opening it up, he set to work prying the lock open. With a sudden ‘click’ the door swung outwards.

“See?” Brian said. “They even put the hinges on the outside so no one can take out the pins to open the door. Pretty clever!”

“Stop admiring them and let’s get out of here!”

Quietly the pair made their way to the front of the theater. Luckily like most movie houses the floor was thickly carpeted and hid the sound of their escape. As they rounded the corner leading to the front doors, Brian stopped suddenly and D.J. bounced into his back. She started to ask why, but he held up his hand. Around the corner he could see a meeting was taking place.

“So, what about the new couple? Any thoughts?” Asked Bruce.

“I say we add them to the cleansers and be done with it. That is our mission after all!” Said Rusty.

“I agree to a point.” Said Alan. “We’ve lost a lot of soldiers lately and we could use more recruits.”

Tommy interjected. “From what you told me, it sounds like the woman might be agreeable, but the guy isn’t. Can you convince her to help us and still make him a cleanser?”

D.J. looked at Brian and mouthed, ‘cleanser?’. He shrugged his shoulders at her.

Alan shook his head, “I think that would be a hard argument to win. Better they both join us in our mission, or both become cleansers. I think the easiest approach would be to talk to her alone, get her to our side, and then have her convince her husband that this is the right way.”

“And if she can’t?” Asked Rusty.

“Then Mother Earth gains two more cleansers!” Smiled Alan. “Let’s get some rest. Rusty, you checked the doors?”

“Yes sir. Locked up tight. No one’s getting in.” He replied.

“Good! See you gentlemen in the morning.
