Lack of promotion of healthy practices due to limited and insufficient specialists in child healthcare.

Most newborn deaths are preventable by improving quality of care during delivery and care at birth. Simple interventions like skilled birth attendance and access to emergency obstetric care can reduce the mortality rate of the newborn by 41% while early initiation of breastfeeding can further reduce the mortality rate.

The maximum deaths identified are due to the preventable diseases and infections like pneumonia, diarrhea, malaria, and measles. About 39% of children have not been fully immunized. The under-five mortality rate per 1000 live births was 85.8 (81.8 for boys and 90.2 for girls). Five causes accounted for 62% of all child deaths are: pneumonia, prematurity and low birth weight, diarrhoeal diseases, neonatal infections and birth asphyxia and birth trauma (UNICEF 2018b).
