I leave Nikos in Link’s capable hands. He assured me he would work hard to ensure Nikos is eating well and will stay in his and Nixie’s house until I return from my intimate bonding. I don’t know what I would do without Link. He is the glue that’s holding me together. Without him, I think my mind would have shattered into tiny little pieces from everything that’s happened since I found out I inherited a circus.

I quickly make my way through the ship. I’ve well and truly taken up the twenty minutes we promised Xavier, but he’s going to have to wait a little longer. I want to check on my babies and my cats. I’m not sure how long intimate bonding takes, so I want to assure myself that they are okay before I disappear again. When I get to my room, though, I find something I hadn’t expected.

The door to our suite slides back, and I hurry in, hoping that they aren’t in the middle of a nap, and slide to a stop. In the large living area, which has been widened and decorated with more furniture, I find an amazing sight. Curled up in his snake form with his back against a couch is Silac. He has a child in each arm, snuggled against him, and my third child is curled up in his tail. All four of them are fast asleep. I wonder why he’s watching my children and what happened to the cats.

I try to tiptoe past them so I can go in search of my missing cats, but the sound of scales sliding against one another has me stopping. My eyes meet his orange ones, and he smiles before closing them again. He’s perfectly relaxed and content with my children, so I leave them be and head in search of my cats. They will either be in Echo’s nest in the library or in their den. Are they taking advantage of the kids being asleep and taking a nap, or will they be getting some exercise? I think I’ll try the den first. There’s a nest in there as well, because having sex in the other one is no longer an option since the kids are with us. Their little footsteps are mostly silent on the floors, so we decided it would be safer for us to only use it for napping—not to mention they like napping in there with their pussycats as well.

I push my hand against the door sensor, and it opens up with a gust of freezing cold air. Crap, I can’t go in there as Earth Lila. I strip off my clothes and leave them in a pile on the floor outside the door where they won’t end up damp and covered in snow, and I allow my cat form to wash over me. I yawn and stretch, flicking my tail around and shaking out my mane before I step into the freezing cold room. The door slides closed behind me as wind and snow batters my body.
