âThen Jesus answered and said to them, âMost assuredly, I say to you, the Son can do nothing of Himself, but what He sees the Father do; for whatever He does, the Son also does in like manner.ââ
JOHN 5:19
Jesus did what he âsawâ the Father doing. How and when did Jesus see the Father lay hands on a leper?
Seeing into the realm of the Spirit is a function of the spirit man. Paul prayed that the eyes of our understanding be enlightened (Eph. 1:18). Our spirit man has the capacity to have enlightened sight, seeing into the realm of the spirit where all the illusions of the physical realm are stripped away. It was in this realm that Jesus saw the Father.
Is the Father laying hands on lepers in heaven? In a sense, I believe what Jesus saw was an expression of what the Father desired. He desired to lay hands on the leper, and He did so through the hands of Jesus. The Father has no hands on the earth outside of the hands available in the Body of Christ. God wills to use your hands, your legs, your mouth, every part of you for His service!
His hands, our hands. His words, our words. They become one when we yield to the Spirit. The manifestations of the Spirit must be yielded to by an act of our free will.
That Paul prayed for our enlightened sight means that not all sight is enlightened. Since enlightened sight sees clearly into the spirit realm, unenlightened sight, then, must be sight that does not see into the reality of the spirit realm.
Enlightened sight is a result of a deeper life in the things of God. This includes developing a personal prayer life, taking time to contemplate and mediate on the Word of God, and learning to recognize and honor the person of the Holy Spirit.
