Introduction

In the previous chapters, we discussed the things we do at the altar as the chosen, royal priesthood of God that draw His presence. We commune with God and minister to Him, we saturate in His Word to get to know Him in deeper and more intimate ways, and we offer ourselves as a living sacrifice on the altar of our hearts that we have raised to Him. All these actions draw the presence of God closer to us.

As we pursue, love, and esteem God, to give ourselves more fully to Him, we find that His presence is both within us and rests upon us. Not only does His Spirit indwell us, He also surrounds and embraces us.

As we will be discussing in the following chapters, it is out of this deep communion and awareness of God’s presence that He enables us to fulfill His purposes. He equips us and strengthens us. He gives us wisdom, power, and authority. He makes covenant with us and exchanges His divine nature for our corrupt nature. We begin to receive divine guidance and prophetic insight, and find ourselves able to push back darkness, break strongholds, and destroy the works of the enemy. All of this results from establishing and maintaining a holy altar unto the Lord, the fruits that come from this deepening communion with Him.

It is through our lifestyle at the altar that we draw the presence of God, and it is through His presence that He gives us what we need to advance His kingdom.

Lord, help us to understand the concept of the altar and then see how to bring it into reality in our hearts and lives. Our desire, Lord, is to fulfill the purposes for which we were created. We desire to see Your kingdom come and Your will being done “on earth as it is in heaven.”

Please bless us, Lord, with eyes to see and ears to hear so we can understand what You are calling us to, and please give us willing hearts that we may become part of that pure and spotless Bride You desire to meet on That Day.
