“We scouted out several locations and found that there was an alleyway in town that seemed to have the steampunk vibe to it—lots of old brick, old electrical panels, old paint, coal chutes, and some strange rack with chains on it,” Phil recalls. “The models showed up with costuming and a bag full of steampunk accessories. A local beauty salon did the makeup on the girls while we set up and set to work.”

“We utilized speedlights to create everything from a soft to an edgy look, depending on the story we were trying to tell,” says Phil. “In addition to shooting them individually, we found that some really great things happened when we paired them up—it really took on a cool fashion-like vibe at that point. Everyone was thrilled with the results . . . including us.”
