The shot was very loud. It rang in her ears like a bell, and the blond-haired manâs eyes bored into her soul, judging her and damning her as he collapsed, blood flowing down the hallway like a gushing torrent. Sylvia tried to run, but her legs were immobile. She heard a cry of help. It sounded like Althenia. The blood got higher and higher before she could find Althenia. It was up to her neck, and she tried to swim, but the blood was thick and it was dragging her down.
Sylvia awoke with a jump to find she was in a hospital bed. Next to her was Althenia. She looked at her and felt a range of emotions hit her. She tried to remember the last thing after the shooting. She was led to the hospital and put in a bed next to Althenia, who was till unconscious.
âHow long have I been out?â she asked in a groggy voice.
âAbout eight hours. You have been in shock, and I can understand why.â Sylvia then put her hand up and felt her collar had been put back on, and for some reason felt safer. âSorry, orders,â replied Althenia, answering her unanswered question.
âThat is fine, I understand,â she replied. âI think I may have killed someone,â said Sylvia rather mournfully as she lay down in the bed and stared up at the cold, white ceiling.
Althenia put her hand on Sylviaâs shoulder reassuringly. âYes, you did what you had to do, but in the process, you saved many lives.â
âI suppose so,â replied Sylvia, not sounding too convinced. She then sat up and pulled Althenia into a hug. Althenia then put her arms around her and returned the hug. After a couple of minutes, Sylvia let go, feeling a lot better. She moved back but found herself in Altheniaâs arms and staring deep into Altheniaâs violet eyes. A strange feeling overcame her as she looked into her eyes and found them to sparkle like Amethyst.
She leaned in as Althenia looked at her and said, âI am very proud of you.â Sylviaâs heart skipped a beat, and she smiled and leaned in even closer, focusing on Altheniaâs red lips, which she gently touched with her own, sending a spark of passion through Sylviaâs body. The kiss was short and sweet as Althenia gently pulled away. Althenia smiled at her. âNow may not be the best time. You are still in shock. Rest for the moment.â Althenia then pulled Sylvia into a hug that helped Sylvia confirm all would be okay. Sylvia let go and lay back down on the bed, while still holding Altheniaâs hand. âI have some news.â said Althenia. âWe have an allied city state down in Virginia which is about to be attacked and you and I are to be deployed there.â Althenia paused for a second. âCentral command will let you use your powers to help us if you are willing?â
Sylvia thought for a second then asked, âYou will be with me?â
âYes,â Althenia replied simply.
