The Mixer

The Mixer works like an artist’s palette where paints can be mixed together to blend colors. Figure 6.3 shows the Mixer panel, which is resizable to make it easier to select colors.

Fig 6.3 The Mixer panel.

Click on the Apply Color icon (second from left) and select a color from the color swatches at the top of the panel, or use the Eyedropper in the Toolbox and click in the picture currently open. Paint some brush strokes into the panel, then select another color and paint some more, the size of the brush that adds the color can be changed by moving the slider. The paint will mix together as it is added to the palette. When you have added several colors click the Mix Color icon (third from left) and mix the colors together.

When you are ready to paint, choose a brush, then click the Sample Color icon (fourth from left) in the Mixer panel and then click in the mixer to select the color you need and paint into your picture. The Sample Multiple Colors icon is used for brushes which can pick up more than one color at a time. Figure 6.4 shows the Oils>Real Fan Short brush painting with colors mixed in the Mixer panel.
