The elevator doors open, and we step out into my penthouse. I can tell Viviana does her best to look unimpressed. But she doesn’t do a great job at stopping that jaw from dropping a little.

“It’s no Bullogian palace.” I grin.

She rolls her eyes. “It’ll do.”

I chuckle and head through the big open space towards the kitchen. I grab the scotch off the counter and pour a hefty amount. I glance up at Rhys.

“Does the Pope wear a bloody big hat?” He sinks into a stool at the counter, and I pour him a big splash.

“Princess? Duchess?”

Viviana glares at me. Isla sidles up next to her and does the same.

“I don’t trust him,” the redhead mutters under her breath.

“Now, now, ladies. It’s not nice to whisper about the host in his very home.” I smile smugly. “Were you raised in barns?”

“Castles, I thought,” Rhys smirks, sipping his drink.

I can see both of them simmering over there by the front entryway. But they don’t say anything. Finally, Viviana just marches over and grabs the bottle out of my hands. She snatches a couple of glasses too and pours two more drinks.

“And a host offers refreshments to the ladies first.”

“And here I thought it was twenty-first century.” I wink. “Must be my lack of royal upbringing.”

“You done?”

“Probably not.”

She glares at me. But even I can see it’s to try and desperately cover the smile she’s trying to keep me from seeing. She takes a drink and glances around. She finally seems to allow herself an impressed look.

“Nice place.”

“It’s good to be king.” I shrug.

Rhys’s phone pings. He snatches it up and heads off towards my home office to take it.

“The view isn’t so bad, either.” I nod towards the windows, beckoning her over. Isla frowns again and leans close to Viviana. I sigh loudly.

“Yes, duchess, we’re all well aware that you don’t trust me. Find some new material.”

“I was actually going to ask my boss if she thought now might be an opportune time to toss you out the bloody window and take over your entire empire.” Isla smiles coolly. “Is that new enough?”

“Oh you must have done a number on those private schools of yours, didn’t you?”

Isla rolls her eyes and flips me the bird when she takes a drink. Viviana actually smiles and shakes her head. She looks at me. Our eyes hold each other’s. For a second, that heat and spark from the club is back. I growl to myself. My cock throbs and thickens at the memory of her hot little mound against my thigh.

Viviana takes a slow drink and pulls her eyes from mine. Her face has a pink tint to it. She strolls past me for the window. I bow to Isla. She flips me off, and I grin and turn to follow Viviana.

“Can we agree to put this little tiff behind us for the time being?”

She smiles cutely at me. “Now why would I pick now, when you’re being attacked, to back off? The enemy of my enemy and all that?”

I smile right back.
