Chapter Fourteen
Lionel
LATER THAT DAY
Lacie and I had been running around Dave and Busterâs for the last few hours. My ass was tired and ready to lay down. It seemed like she had something that she wanted to do every day. Most of my shit had been put on hold because she wanted all my time. Shit had gotten so bad that I had to work extra hard while she was at school because when she was out, she had something that she needed to do. Most niggas would be irate, but I was happy that I was able to give her everything that she needed and wanted.
Being a father was something that I was enjoying. The best part was that she was a girl, but she loved sports just like I did. I had the best of both worlds. I wanted Lacie to have the best of everything, and I was going to make sure that she did. Earlier, before I came and got her, I had my lawyer make her the beneficiary on all of my accounts and shit. My daughter would be good for life.
âDaddy, can we go now? Iâm tired,â she said, making my body relax. We cashed out what she won and headed out the door. Since I was close to my house, I called Lissa to see if I could bring her later or if she wanted to come and get her because I was tired.
âHey, she played out already?â she answered the FaceTime call. I knew that I could have called the regular way, but I wanted to see her beautiful face.
âYeah, I was calling to see if you can just get her from my house later. We both need a nap,â I told her as I moved through the streets.
âYeah, thatâs fine. Just send me your address, and I will come get her when I finish shopping,â she told me as she looked at something that was next to her. I knew it had to have been Keri because she didnât fuck with too many people from what I could see.
âOk, Iâm finna share my location with you. See you later.â I smiled before hanging up. Lissa was so fucking beautiful. Thereâs not a moment when I didnât think about her. Throughout the years, she crossed my mind a lot, but from the day that I laid eyes on her, I couldnât think about shit but her.
We ended the call just as I was pulling up to my house. When I saw Maria was sitting at my gate, I sighed because I didnât have time for shit. I had been avoiding her because I didnât like the way that she got mad any time that I was with my daughter. I donât know what kinda nigga she thought I was, but I would never be a deadbeat. The only reason that I had been away was because me and her mother had lost touch.
I made my way down the drive way as she was coming up.
