HUNTER

I’m trying to woo Luna, aren’t I? I shouldn’t be because this is going to be such a casual thing, it definitely can’t be anything more, but here I am trying to impress Luna and trying to make her fall in love with me, even if I know love isn’t there for us.

“So, is this where you bring all your dates?” Luna asks me teasingly. “Because I bet this is where you make everyone fall in love with you. Looking handsome with the candlelight flickering between you, while you whisper sweet nothings across the table.”

“Is that what you would like?” I cock an eyebrow, loving the suggestion. We’re behaving at the moment, we have been ever since we left the office because we’re in public and anyone could see us, but that doesn’t mean I don’t feel the heat sizzling between us.

This is why it would never work with someone like Ray, who on paper might seem perfect for me, just as Tim suggested, but really doesn’t give me this. I can’t even explain what this is, but I know it’s one hundred percent what I want from any romantic relationship.

What a shame I have to feel this way when I know she’s out of my reach.

“You are actually the first woman I have ever brought here.”

She looks surprised, but I’m being honest. I thought it might be better for us to come somewhere that we aren’t likely to be spotted by anyone we know. Because I don’t want Tim to get the wrong idea – or the right idea – about us. I also don’t want to run into anyone like Ray and this become really awkward. I don’t know if she would come after me here when I’m on a date with someone else, but she might. I can never tell with Ray.

“Really? Well it’s nice here. Nice for a date.” She nods with an innocent flashing across her face. But I know she’s being naughty, and I freaking love it.

“Exactly. That’s just what I thought.”

“So, this is a date?” she checks with a small girlish giggle. “Good to know.”

Oh God, we might have made this messier, right? I might have made this messier. But I can’t stop myself from wanting to be closer to Luna no matter what. I want this to be a date, and I also would love it to be the first of many.

She likes it too, because her eyes remain hungrily on me the whole time as the waiter heads over to us to take our order. She shoots me cheeky smiles as we look at the wine list, making it challenging for me to focus on what I’m doing. I order whatever wine I look at first and then focus on staring right back at Luna, because she is delicious.

“Are you trying to get me drunk?” she chuckles while wiggling her eyebrows. “Because I have to admit it has been a very long day. My boss has been riding me all day long.
