Jackson and Cadence traced over the same area where he'd caught the snake and found nothing there. They went further out in a direction they hadn't covered yet, discovering burrows and rocky patches where Jackson was certain he'd find something, but even his best hunting techniques proved fruitless. Cadence searched for anything edible from the surrounding plants and trees, finding non-poisonous berries and a cluster of almonds still encased by protective shells. Brian filmed her from ten feet away, recording her survival know-how, identifying what was edible and what wasn't, filling her sack with the findings.

“Cadence?” Dani called out to her. “Feel free to talk to the camera and share about what you're doing.”

Surprising herself with the professional tone coming out of her mouth, Cadence relayed the details of her scavenging. “This area has some hidden gems for us. So far I've collected wild berries that are safe for us to eat, and these almonds are a major source of protein. I've found three for each of us, which may not seem like much, but for us, it's a feast. So, at least we'll have a little snack if nothing else.”

“Good,” Dani said, before adding, “Sorry to interrupt.”

Cadence resumed her foraging, collecting the best of what she could safely reach before heading out to find Jackson. She found him crouched down, examining animal tracks.

“I found yummy treats for us to enjoy while singing songs around the campfire tonight,” she told him.”

“Fantastic!” he replied with enthusiasm. “Sorry to say I didn't have the same luck.”

Her heart sinking with the news, she kept her disappointment hidden. “Well, we have enough to get us through the night.”

“Thank goodness,” he added.
