Chapter 16: Zeek

Anna was more prepared for the case than I initially thought. Every time I made a mistake, she shook her head. Usually, I would have the case nailed down by now, but she was distracting me.

I loved the way her wavy curls danced across her shoulders. Her laugh was a sweet song, and her smile made me want to kiss every inch of her body. She was a masterpiece that I'd like to collect and keep forever.

It was getting late, but I couldn't let her leave. I wanted to spend every moment with Anna, so I pulled out the bourbon, hoping she would stay a little longer. She did not disappoint.

Anna started a dangerous game, a game that I was enjoying already. I knew where this path would take us, but I wasn't ready to cross certain boundaries with her yet. I had to wait until she could be mine, all mine. I wasn't sure where we would end up in the future, but tonight I readied myself to play this game with my beautiful temptress.

"Should we begin?" she asked, her demure tone only adding fuel to the growing fire inside me.

"Bring it on, Rocky."

Her devious expression said it all. She was ready, and our little game began with her sweet voice.

"Where was Mrs. Luis found?"

I thought for a moment. "In the kitchen."

"Correct." She peeled off her hoodie, revealing a white sports bra. I didn’t hear her next question because I was too busy admiring her tattoos. Every time I saw her beautifully decorated skin, I found more things to love about it. Her voice grew a little louder,

"Champ, focus! We still have a lot of work to do."

"Sorry." I shook my head, stepping back into our little game. "What was the question?"

"How long has Eddie been in prison for his wife's murder?"

"That's an easy one. Eight years."

Anna made a buzzer sound "EEEEE... Wrong! It's six years! Take your shot, and come give me my prize."

I threw back the shot of bourbon and leaned over the kitchen island. She moved forward across the countertop, pressing her tender lips against mine. It was so soft, so fast I almost didn't feel it.

I groaned. "I'd like you to clarify some of the rules in this game."

"Mmkay, but it will cost you another shot."

I poured us both another shot of the dark liquor. "Do I get to pick where I kiss you?"

She giggled a bit, a light sound that reverberated through my chest. Anna downed the glass in front of her, and with a vicious smile, she said, "Dealer’s choice, Champ."

This game was getting better by the minute. I took my shot. "You may continue."

She raised one eyebrow. "What age was Eddie when he went to prison?"

"Hmm... twenty-four?"

"EEEEE... wrong! He was twenty-eight."

I knew the correct answer, but I wanted an excuse to kiss her again. I stepped around the kitchen island and spun Anna on the stool to face me. She was beaming, ready for me to claim her lips. Instead, I leaned down and placed a soft, slow kiss on her neck.
