Do you want me to just list all the things I love about my hair? I love that it’s black, I love that it’s curly, I love that it’s strong, I love that it’s growing, I love that it’s free, you know? The image of Black hair has not been portrayed well in the media over the years, so unfortunately it was hard growing up and feeling different, you know? You get bullied, teased, made fun of because you’re different, and you’re taught from a very young age to not understand your difference, so to love yourself is actually a fight. It shouldn’t have to be that way. And hair is a big player in that arena. So I guess for me, I’m just at the point where I embrace who I am, and I respect who I am, and therefore I respect all things about me.
