I saw another stone torii in the middle of the mountain path. Three golden characters written on the torii mean Benzaiten. Benzaiten is a Buddhist goddess derived from the Hindu goddess Saraswati. The abbreviated name of Benzaiten is Benten.

Huge trees stand along the path.

The picture above is of the sacred well, which is called Akai. Aka-i means “the well of Aka.” Aka is the pure water that is dedicated to God and Buddha.

Two arrows of the signboard show the different directions in the branch point. The signboard says, “right to Benten-do, and left to Myo-o-do.” The words engraved on the monolith mean “Great Benzaiten-do.”

It took about 10 minutes on foot to get from station “Cable Enryakuji” to this place.
