The front and back feet should be in a straight line, if possible.
Variations on III:
Put both hands on the floor to the right or left of the front leg.
Put the elbows on the floor.
Put the elbows on the floor and push the back foot flat. Putting the lower leg on the floor reduces the strain on the groin area.
Note:
This exercise also stretches the calf of the back leg.

Kneel on one knee and take a big step forward with the other leg. The hands are on the floor to the right and left of the front leg.
