We moved upstairs, Jenny taking the lead holding my hand; the excitement was intoxicating and my heart was thumping. I wanted to move slowly, not rush. The anticipation was so erotic everything else cleared from my mind ready to soak up this moment, preparing to experience this pure new arousal.
I slowed her down, stopping her ripping off my jeans. Taking her hand to her trouser zip, we lowered it down together hand in hand, our hot breath mingling in the inch between our open mouths. We kissed whilst stumbling around the room as we ripped each otherâs clothes off, fumbling with clasps, and tearing buttons, before collapsing on the bed. The foreplay was brief as we both were desperate to get to that moment â so close.
âJen, I donât have a you-know-what.â
âWhatâs a you-know-what?â
âYou know a thingy.â
âOh, a thingy,â she chuckled.
âYes, a thingy as you call it.â
âJason it doesnât matter, really it doesnât matter.â
Then a tear ran down her face. She wiped it away with the bedsheet and sniffed a little; a sadness had engulfed her.
âHey Jen, whatâs up? We donât have to do this.â Though abundantly aware that a particular part of my body was very unhappy with that statement.
âJason it doesnât matter because I canât have children. I had to have a ladyâs operation a few years ago, and it left me unable to conceive.â
She buried her head in my chest as tears rolled down her face on to me. I just held her tight, kissing her hair â and after a while we slept.
âMorning, gorgeous, coffee for you.â I plonked it on the bedside table and sat on the edge of the bed, gently moving a stray hair from her face as I stroked my thumb down her cheek. The sadness Iâd seen in her last night was still oozing from her.
âIâm so sorry, I ruined our night.â
âNo, you didnât, it doesnât matter. Hey, remember what I said â I love you.â
âIâm in love with you too, Jason, but what about ⦠you know what I said?â
âItâs okay, as I said, I want to be with you. Now come on, drink that coffee, Iâve made too many cups of coffee in my time that have gone cold.â
I kissed her, handed her the coffee then moved towards the bathroom. It had an electric shower above the bath â bloody luxury. âWeâre off shopping soon, and as you pointed out thatâs better than sex apparently,â I threw back over my shoulder.
The shopping was reasonably successful. Weâd detoured to Jennyâs flat so she could freshen-up, and I expect give the low-down to Helen, so I stayed in the car whilst she got ready. Habitat furniture looked trendy, and not much different to 2019: all bright-coloured chairs, teak tables with chrome steel legs and storage units that had space to put a TV in the centre â as long as it was no bigger than a twenty-two inch. I murdered the American Express card and flashed my cheque book around acquiring a fair few items.
