‘Hey Jason,’ said Lizzie, hurrying into the shop and grinning at the young lad, who was knee-deep in the pile of spares in the corner. ‘I’m sorry I was so long. I grabbed you some lunch and a coffee.’

‘Ta!’ said Jason, picking his way towards her with far more ease than she’d managed earlier.

‘Wait a sec!’ she said, staring at the junk pile… which was no longer a jumbled heap. ‘You organised all that while I was out?!’

‘Yeah?’ said Jason, turning to look behind him. ‘I really hope that was okay. I just thought it’d be easier for you to find stuff if it was grouped together a bit.’

‘It’s… amazing! But… blimey, how long was I gone for?!’ she said, staring at him in wonder. ‘Thank you!’

Jason grinned at her. ‘No worries.’ He took the bag from her and his eyes lit up when he opened it. ‘Hey - you got my favourite!’

‘That was Sarah’s work,’ said Lizzie.

‘Cool,’ said Jason, cool as a cucumber as he took a bite.

‘Here’s your coffee,’ she said. ‘I’m guessing Sarah got that right too…’

‘Black?’ said Jason.

Lizzie nodded.

‘Spot on,’ he said, taking it from her and taking a grateful swig.

‘So…’ said Lizzie. ‘You got on okay?’

Jason nodded. ‘Two bikes came back early. I wrote down their names. They said they’d already paid you earlier, so I figured that was that. Bikes were fine. I checked them over - they’re back in the rack over there. Oh - and another repair came in.’

‘Show me?’ said Lizzie.

Jason pointed at the bike leaning against her workbench.

‘Thought I’d better keep it separate from the rest until you’d seen it,’ he said. ‘I made a note on that bit of paper on the bench.’

Lizzie wandered over and picked it up.
