Applying Rational and Emotional Thinking to Content Generation
The value of considering the stakeholder or the audience is to think through how content and the messages it communicates might be received by stakeholders, and whether this response will help or hinder the supplier wanting to be chosen.
Having a powerful case for the customer to choose a supplier because of the products, services, and solution being proposed is both a good thing and necessary. These are the arguments that will unquestionably convince the rational thinker, and the suppliers should be under no illusion that they will not get over the line with spin or oratory alone.
However, that does not mean that the emotional thinking side should be ignored. There are times when it will be more important to address the anticipated emotional concerns of a stakeholder than to bang the rational drum; and cultivating a more collaborative approach and recognizing the value of the customerâs input in developing the solution strengthens the relationship considerably.
Having a clear view as to the best way of proceeding is something that needs to be decided early on, or the ideas simply wonât be reflected in the content.
