1a: A diver without a camera , and not moving forward. His body angles upward as the floatation acts from the lung area of his body.

1b: The same diver fins in the direction of the arrow, but now angles in the opposite direction. This is because he is positively buoyant and must counteract the flotation force in order to maintain a constant depth. This is an inefficient profile.

2a: The diver stops finning again and is handed a negatively buoyant camera . This pivots the diver into a neutrally buoyant and horizontal position.
