Jorde
Beaten, bruised, and covered in sand, Jorde watched the insanity unfold around him. He had been moments from death as the ax was about to swing and end his life, but the Anarchist ships had stormed to the rescue. It was a miracle and he was thankful.
Still, Jorde hated how the events unfolded. The Prince had the upper hand the entire time. The Prince was calling the shots and ruling the Sovereign Alliance with insane motives. It made Jorde mad and he wanted revenge on the Prince. At this exact moment, there wasnât much he could do.
He watched the Princeâs ship take off into the sky. A battle raged overhead as Anarchist ships engaged in a dog fight with the Sovereign fleet. Jorde wished he could be up there now, fighting for the sake of the Sovereign Alliance.
Even though he was thankful the Anarchy had arrived and interrupted the execution, he hardly owed them anything. The Anarchy was still a bitter rival, and as soon as he removed the Prince from the throne, his first act would be to eliminate the Anarchist forces. The Prince had looked weak and stupid to finish the task. The Anarchist scum needed to go.
With all those emotions rumbling around in his head, Jorde decided the best course of action was to seek safety.
One of his loyal soldiers, Mule, had slipped a key into Jordeâs pocket. Rumbling around on the sand, Jorde managed to reach his shackled hands into the pocket, retrieved the key, then was able to twist it into the lock. It turned free and the handcuffs were released.
That feels better, Jorde thought to himself. He rubbed his hands on the opposite wrists to massage the pain the cuffs left behind. He made a promise to himself to never get arrested again. He had been a servant and sold on the auction block. He was tired of being treated like scum. He was a General of the Sovereign fleet, for crying out loud, and it was about time he got respected like one.
With the shackles free, he stumbled to his feet. Pain consumed his body though, as the Sovereign soldiers who captured him enjoyed roughing him up. Jorde couldnât blame them, but he also made a mental note to seek revenge. Those elite soldiers would receive payback, one way or another.
He made his way back to the dome house, which was now a ruined wreck. The outside of the home still stood, but inside everything was damaged and blasted to bits. Jorde felt eternally regretful for bringing pain into Mianneâs house.
He needed to check on the old woman and make sure she was okay. He scattered the debris that had fallen on the floor and uncovered the carpet. He threw it to the side and then lifted the hatch. He hoped and prayed he would find Mianne safe.
She had been hunched over in the confined space, but once the door was lifted and fresh air entered the storage compartment, Mianne turned around and began hitting Jorde.
