Mizen Head VIEWS At Mizen Head, the very extreme southwest tip of Ireland, the land falls precipitously into the Atlantic breakers in a procession of spectacular 210-m (689-ft.) sea cliffs. You can cross a suspension bridge to an old signal station, now a visitor center, and stand on a rock promontory at the southernmost point of the mainland. The sea view is spectacular, and it’s worth a trip regardless of the weather. A huge renovation in the early 2010s added new bridges, viewing platforms, and a simulated ship’s bridge. On the way out to Mizen Head, you’ll pass Barleycove Beach, a gorgeous stretch of sand and rock.
