Eleanor was waiting for Bill and Wallace when they showed up. She had found the address after going through one of the boxes Mr. Fisher had brought from downtown. It was one of the most exciting things that had ever happened to Eleanor. She knew this was the missing key for the reunion of Wallace and Amelia. This was the happy ending to their tragic story.
âHere it is,â she said, holding up the paper. âI found the address.â
Wallace came to her, and Eleanor put the paper in his hands. He glanced at the address and nodded. âThatâs her handwriting.â He traced the writing with his finger.
âNow you can be reunited with her. I wish I could come with you, but I have a manuscript to type since this is my day off, and Iâve already missed typing two nights in a row.â
Bill smiled at her, and Eleanor felt her knees go weak. Goodness, but he had such a handsome face. âThank you, Eleanor. This is wonderful news. We could hardly sleep last night.â He reached into his pocket and produced a key. âYouâll need this for the filing cabinet.â
Eleanor nodded and took it. âIâll do my best to get as many pages completed as possible.â
Mrs. Fisher stepped into the room and noted the men. âI suppose you heard the news. Iâm surprised youâre still here.â
Bill laughed, and Wallace gave a nod. âThank you, maâam. Weâre just heading out.â
âIâll catch up with you after we find her,â Bill told Eleanor as he followed Wallace out of the shop. âI have something special to discuss, so donât go anywhere else.â
âI wonât.â Eleanor turned to her boss. âItâs such a wonderful day for miracles. Iâm so happy for them.â
Mrs. Fisher patted Eleanor on the shoulder. âIt is a miracle to be sure. How awful for two people to be thought dead and separated during such an important part of their lives. I thank God you took that picture, Eleanor.â
âI do too.â Eleanor gave a little clap. âItâs such a wonderful day.â
She headed out across the expo grounds. Around her, children and adults made their way from exhibit to exhibit. Eleanor couldnât help but wonder if anyone else had an interesting story to tell. Surely none were as exciting and intriguing as that of the Reed family.
âWhere are you headed?â Mary asked, coming up to her from the crowds.
âTo type Billâs manuscript.â
âI thought you were searching for his sister-in-lawâs address.â She shifted her satchel and caught the brim of her straw hat. âOh bother.â
Eleanor reached up to help her straighten things out. âI found the address. Bill and his brother are on their way. Iâm so excited for them I can hardly stand it. I wanted to go with them, but it really is a very private matter. I know there will be buckets of tears shed and such great happiness to be had. Bill will tell me all about it when he joins me to work on the manuscript.â Eleanor stepped back. âThere. Youâre all properly arranged.
