Epilogue
Ten months laterâ¦
Allison settled into her seat next to Emmaline Novak-Lewis. She had her hand nestled against her growing belly. She was six months pregnant with her first child with second string quarterback, Colt Lewis. He had gone through some extensive physical therapy and had rejoined the team mid-season.
And it was the championship gameâ¦
If they won this game, they would go to the big one in February. Paxton had come back with a vengeance. Heâd proved all of his naysayers wrong and had one of his best seasons of his career. Allison was so proud of him.
âIs the rumors true,â Emma asked.
âWhat rumors?â She lifted a brow.
Emma laughed. âYouâre going to be a wonderful agent. Tori told me she made you a full partner, and you proved to her that you are worth the investment.â She shrugged. âThat and Wes is driving her crazy to slow down. You two might need to take on more employees.â
Allison smiled. âSheâs having twins.â She shuddered. âI can understand why Wes is stressed. Theyâre due any day now and she wonât stop running around town as if she has all the time in the world.â
After Tori and Wes were married, they discovered they were going to be parents, and not long after that the doctor told them to expect two babies. Tori did her best to pretend as if it was all normal. Wes had lost his mind preparing for their bundles of joy. It would have been amusing, if it hadnât been terrifying to watch. Allison kept waiting for Tori to crack, but she remained cool and in charge.
âShe confessed to me the other day sheâs dying inside but she canât show it.â Emma blew out a breath. âAccording to Tori, only one of them can lose it at a time, and right now it was Wesâs turn. After the babies are born, she plans on making him take control of the situation.â
âI wish her luck with that.â Allison laughed. âSigns show heâs not going to be easy to live with anytime soon.â
Emma smiled. âMy brother has his moments, and Iâm willing to bet he will surprise you. Heâs more than capable of handling twins. He married Tori, didnât he?â
Allison smiled and nodded her head. They were quite the pair, Wes and Tori. There was a time when they had hated each other, and when everyone least expected that, their passion turned around and they fell in love. It was amazing to watch unravel.
She turned her attention to the field. Paxton was out there ready to take the snap and send the ball flying to a wide receiver across the field. He sent the football spiraling over several yards. It was caught with ease. She held her breath as the player ran with the ball toward the end zone and didnât let it out until he dived across the goal line. Allison jumped to her feet and shouted. âYes!â
They were in the fourth quarter, and there was less than a minute left in the game.
