Chapter Twelve.

Three days have passed. I followed Allison inside of the training grounds. She wanted to train more before her next mission. She was going to a sector to pick up some items for Paradise Eden. She would need to push cargo and wanted stamina to do so. We went around the track. I should be practising with my aim if a monster comes out of nowhere when I go on my mission. But nearby the shooting range, Chuck was on the floor again, training with the bamboo sticks. I didn’t want him to see me nor ask for a rematch. Being ridiculed once a week is enough for me. I am not ready yet to train with Chuck. I need a lot more practice.

Allison was silent today. It was like she was dwelling or brooding. A thing I rarely see her do. She is also usually open with me. Her unable to tell me must mean whatever she had on her mind was a serious matter. I don’t want to pry, but I also do want to ask what is the issue, but I also respect her privacy enough to keep my persistence to myself for a few more days. Her mood may shift altogether tomorrow. Allison may need a day to get over whatever was on her mind.

That left me running around the obstacle course for a few hours until I grow hungry and want dinner.

Chuck was incredibly strong. He didn’t hold back either, and I guess that was the reason people loved challenging him. They were getting an honest and hard fight so that they can learn better. I don’t even think Chuck cares that is the reason they want to fight him. He wants a fight. I guess he needs stimulation, which I can understand. If I didn’t have amnesia, I would more than likely be jittery for a few weeks in here. We fought for years and ran for years. No fighting or running can make a person feel weird for a while.

Slowing my pace, I let Allison run around when I went up to the crowd of girls admiring my brother. Irritated, I pushed my way through until I got through the group and at the edge of the mat. I winced when the man got slammed across the face with the bamboo stick.

“Iseya,” Chuck said, grinning. “Care to fight me again?”

“No. Can we talk?” I asked. “Privately.”

“If you insist.” He threw the bamboo stick, and a girl grabbed hold of it and looked up at Chuck, surprised. “Use it and train, Sheep.”

“You’re very rude,” I muttered when we were out of earshot, at the back, in the corner and near the broom closet. “Why did you call her Sheep?”

“Because she is, as well as all the other mindless girls that swoon over me when I fight. Sheep following the ram. It’s disgusting.” Chuck looked around. “Where’s that black chick in your team? She’s got spunk and always ignores my advances, unlike that girl with a tiger tattoo.
