INTENTIONALITY WITH GOD’S RESOURCES

God has given us access to an abundance of resources that we can only receive through intentionality. In the Gospels, Jesus asks a number of people in obvious need if they want a miracle (John 5:1-17, Mark 10:46-52). Jesus wasn’t trying to be cruel. He wanted people to understand how He thinks. When we think like Him, we live like Him. The miraculous or supernatural dimension is not designed for temporary relief or for the miracle someone needs in the moment. Miracles are an invitation to view reality differently. Jesus preached repentance—a call to change the way we think. Embracing the Kingdom of Heaven requires us to think like God (Matthew 4:17). The Judaism of the Pharisees was structured to hasten the Kingdom of God. However, it was a religious system with the right goal but the wrong roadmap. In this hour, God is once again challenging the Church to examine our current goals and roadmaps. Intentionality gives God permission to challenge our thought processes. As the Apostle Paul admonishes in Romans 12:1-2, “I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that you present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable to God, which is your reasonable service. And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what is that good and acceptable and perfect will of God.”
