1. Does your church or another church you know make a point to welcome others by talking about what a casual, “come as you are” environment it provides? Have you ever heard anyone make a statement like “This isn’t your grandmother’s church”? What are the positive ideas being communicated by these statements? How might these statements limit people’s understanding of church?

2. Do you find yourself relating more to the perspective of the disillusioned? If so, do you find it easy to seek out veteran members of the faith as mentors? What, if anything, prevents you from doing so more often?

3. Do you find yourself relating more to the perspective of the veteran leader? If so, do you find it easy to offer guidance to those younger than yourself? What, if anything, prevents you from doing so more often?
