Dawson gave Chase a chance to drive the Humvee, heading into the wee hours of the morning. Dawson tried unsuccessfully to get some sleep. His body was tired, but his brain couldn't stop nagging at him. He had all the same concerns Chase had regarding Veronica, and Rick and the rest of their adopted family back at the bunker. He ran over the same answers in his head that he had given to Chase, but it was a harder sell. There were too many loose ends, and too many variables. Too many pieces of information that he didn't have. He longed to just have his family back safe and sound under one roof. It was one thing to venture out of your comfort zone by choice, but it was another thing altogether when you were forced out of it at the end of a gun. Sleep didn't come easily, and when it did come, it didn't last long. Dawson wasn't too sure if it was the sudden stop of the Humvee that sent him crashing into the dashboard or the startling sound of high-powered weapons being discharged. Either way, he was wide awake and staring at Chase, who had his eyes riveted on the scene ahead.
