Chapter 17
Charles and Duran pulled up to Brandon’s house and saw all the vehicles in the driveway.
“Damn, they having a party or something?” Duran asked, as he put his gun behind his shirt and so did Charles; they got out the car and then walked in between all the vehicles. Duran rang the doorbell and then Janelle opened it.
“Nice of y’all to join us.” Janelle said, as Charles rolled his eyes; she turned around and walked back to the living room. Duran and Charles followed behind and then slowed down when they saw Miguel with the gun to Brandon’s head.
“Hey, I’m Charles McMillan and I’m the one you want so let him go and take me.” Charles said, as they all watched; Charles slowly walked towards Miguel with his hands up. Miguel tightened his grip on the gun and held it steady to Brandon’s head, as he looked at Charles.
“You fucked up JoJo’s life; you left Frankie in charge and he had her raped.” Miguel said, as Charles nodded.
“I know I left Frankie in charge, but I didn’t know and I’m sorry about what happened to JoJo. Just let my son go and then you can do whatever you want with me.” Charles said, as Miguel was about to say something when Nelle ran out the playroom with Casey.
“Daddy!” Nelle yelled, as Brandon’s eyes grew big.
“No baby stay back!” Brandon yelled. Miguel was distracted, so Charles lunged towards Miguel. Duran pulled his gun from behind his shirt, as well as Jackson. Cassandra screamed, as Dean covered her and his daughter and they hit the floor. Brandon ran and jumped over the armchair, as he grabbed his kids and hit the floor with them. Charles and Miguel wrestled with the gun, as it was still in Miguel’s hand; Duran and Jackson couldn’t get a good shot. Janelle ran over, took the gun from behind Charles’s back, and then shot Miguel in the leg. Miguel yelled, as Charles let go; Miguel started shooting everywhere, as he went down to the floor.
Charles got shot in the side of his stomach and Janelle got shot in the side of her head; everything moved in slow motion when Charles grabbed his stomach and fell forward. Janelle grabbed her head and dropped the gun, as she fell back over the couch. Duran shot twice, but not before he was hit in the arm and leg and then went down. Jackson was able to jump behind the couch and take cover before being shot. Cassandra screamed and the kids cried, as Dean was over her and Deana; Brandon was covering Nelle and Casey. The gunfire stopped, as Duran was holding his arm and in pain on the floor. Charles wasn’t moving and Janelle was on the floor shaking with her eyes open. Miguel was on the floor holding his leg and yelling. Dean got up and saw the horrific scene, so he pulled his cell phone out and called the police. Cassandra got up with Deana and was still crying, as she held her daughter in her arms.
