Ivarr too fell asleep, leaving Eilifir to arrange the night guard for the few remaining hours of darkness. When he next awakened, the sun was warm in his face and he could smell the breakfast Finnvard was assembling from their scanty stores. He was grumbling about it too, wondering how they were ever going to survive until the end of next week. Flosi and Egills were arguing languidly about some inconsequential subject, and Skapti was attempting to organize their untidy camp. Eilifir was sitting on a rock with his bow and an arrow across his knees, watching the surrounding fells with an attentive attitude. Ivarr lazed in the warm sun awhile longer, then he sauntered through the camp toward Eilifir, noting as he passed that Gizur was still sleeping heavily. He looked very weary and drawn as he slept, clutching his staff in one hand.
