S.O.S. (Save our Spiders)

Call me crazy, but I never like to hurt any animals, no matter how small.

To teach our son about the value of life, I asked my husband not to smash bugs. If we found a spider, beetle, or any other non-poisonous insect, the idea was that I’d swoop in with a glass jar, trap the bug, and release it in our backyard.

Nope. My ex couldn’t handle it. He smashed his way through every bug he saw. And more than once I overheard him taking an almost sadistic glee while crushing insects and spiders for our son to watch.

I realize I’m in the minority with my bug-saving ways. But my ex’s harshness was enough to drive a wedge between us.
