Brown beef in oil or butter. Add the rest of the ingredients. Simmer slowly, stirring occasionally. Cook for 1 hour or until beef becomes shredded in sauce. Serve with crusty French rolls.

Ranch Stew

1 lb. ground beef

1 can red kidney beans

1 can whole-kernel corn

2 cans tomatoes in juice (mash by hand until fine)

3 small potatoes, cubed

1 medium onion, chopped

salt and pepper to taste

1 tsp. chili powder

½ tsp. garlic powder

Brown meat and drain off fat. Add remaining ingredients. Cook on low to medium heat for 1 hour, stirring occasionally. Serve with corn muffins or French bread.
