Lizzie laughed. “You can’t wait to be in there, can you?” she asked. “But let’s give your sister a chance to get used to the whole scene, so she’s not too overwhelmed when we go inside the fence.” Lizzie knew that this was what her Aunt Amanda did when she introduced a new dog at her doggy day care. “Some dogs just aren’t ready to plunge right in,” Aunt Amanda always said.

Lizzie felt a scrabbling at her left leg. Zag looked up at her, eyes sparkling.
