Oribe was the kind of person who damaged the treasures of the realm. If, for example, he did not like the shape of a certain hanging scroll, he would deliberately cut it shorter. Or if the tea bowls and caddies were perfect and without flaws, he would purposely break and repair them and declare the broken and repaired articles to be interesting.13
