I recently gave my daughters (six and four years old) my iPod, and let them play with it around the house. As it turned out, I discovered another way to attach more pleasure to old songs. They loved scrolling through it and finding songs on my playlists that they personally loved. At times, we would share the earphones; I’d take one and either Isabella or Veronica the other. Sometimes they shared earphones. Then one day while heading to the college, I turned on my iPod and my usual playlist wasn’t playing. For a moment I wasn’t sure why but then remembered my daughters playing their favorite songs. The iPod scramble was responding to their selections. “How great!” I thought as I then began to visualize each daughter traversing the house, earphones on and dancing to the tunes. I was able to hear their favorite tunes, the ones they played over and over. What a great feel-good memory we made.

As I said, it attached new pleasure to old songs. I can now play those tunes and relive my memories of my daughters listening to them as a special treat when I need charging as I work in my office. I turn on my iPod, take a look at some photos of the girls on my wall, and enjoy the good vibes. Sometimes it’s just what I need to keep me happy. I encourage you to try something similar with your friends, family, partners, and children.
