THEY’LL BE WHAT THEY See
One of the most devastating factors that has driven women to explore sex at an early age is the deterioration of the family unit. Understanding the impact of your upbringing and the environment you’re brought up in is critical to being a successful piece keeper. In the majority of single-parent homes, the mother is the primary caregiver. This means that the girls being raised by single mothers have no example of how they are supposed to interact with men. A mother’s love can never be matched, but a father’s importance should never be underestimated. As we discussed in Chapter 1, a father’s love is vital to a girl’s development. A father’s love should be a girl’s first experience with love from a man. This special relationship allows a girl to experience unconditional love without ever being expected to perform sexually. She can hug and kiss her father, she can hold his hand, they can laugh and play together, they can even sit together and do absolutely nothing at all. He’s there to provide for and protect her, and he always has her back. Aren’t these basically the same things every grown woman ultimately looks for in a man?
Too many people make the mistake of thinking a girl needs her mother more than she needs her father and a boy needs his dad more than he needs his mother. The truth of the matter is that children need both parents equally. One parent can never compensate for the absence of the other. Therefore, the girls who have the misfortune of having only one parent in their lives often have to develop that missing piece of their personality by trial and error. The interesting part is that most women don’t even realize their development is incomplete until they’re actually in a relationship with a man. They really don’t know his physical and emotional needs, and how would they if they didn’t have an example? A strong male figure is crucial to a woman’s confidence in dating and marriage.
For the women who have loving and caring fathers in their lives, try to imagine how different life would be if your father weren’t around as you were growing up. How would you learn the skills of being a wife, or even a girlfriend, if your father wasn’t present as a role model? A single mother can only be an example of a good mother. Being a positive role model of how to deal with men is much more difficult if she’s not married. Multiple boyfriends just aren’t suitable substitutes. However, it’s very important for single mothers to understand that their daughters have a great possibility of growing up with less than optimal relationship skills unless a conscious effort is made to get her the information she needs to be successful. Otherwise, children grow up relationship handicapped, and that only leads to bad decision making. As a result, many daughters are forced to learn about relationships from their environment. Let that marinate for a minute or two.
