9 Highlight the Tree Trunks

Mix white with a touch of Cadmium Orange. Make it a creamy consistency. Load the chisel tip of a no. 4 Dynasty and carefully begin dabbing the bright color on the left side of the tree trunks that are located to the right of the lightsource and on the right side of the tree trunks to the left of the lightsource. These trees have wide bottoms with many exposed roots, so use foreshortening to separate them.

A foreshortened limb or root will appear to protrude forward or recede back, as opposed to just sticking out from the side of the tree trunk. Use a no. 4 or no. 6 Dynasty to make C-shaped brushstrokes from the top of the limb to the bottom. Create a series of these strokes coming forward and overlapping each other until you have the length and shape you want.
