Chapter Fourteen

“Fuck,” Seth groans as he collapses. He knew it would be good with Summer, but he didn’t know it would be this good. It’s more than sex. It’s an overwhelming sense of rightness that he hasn’t felt with anyone else. Ever.

I’m not alone anymore.

That’s his first thought. Because alone is how it always feels with other women, even during sex.

He lifts his head and kisses her. Kisses her mouth, her cheeks, her neck. Covering her with kisses until she’s giggling.

“I’d forgotten that part,” he says softly.

“What part?”

“The completeness I feel with you.”

Summer’s breath stops, but then she nods, and he can tell she gets it.

Neither of them speaks for a long moment. They study each other. Lights from the party next door still send colorful flickers all around them.

“It feels like we’re doing it inside of a disco ball,” he says, and she laughs. He loves making her laugh.

“I guess it’s sort of like dancing.”

He waggles his brows. “Dirty dancing.”

“Really dirty dancing.”

“I’d say we’re taking it to a whole new level of dirty.”

His bangs fall forward, and she brushes them back. “I’m still getting used to you with short hair, but I like it. It looks good on you.”

“Thanks. It felt weird when I first cut it, but at the same time, it was freeing.”

“I could see that. A symbol of cutting ties with the past.”

He nods. “Something like that.”

She squirms beneath him. “I think I’d better use the bathroom.”

Seth eases out of her, then lifts away. He stands, putting his hand out to help her up. His pants and boxers are still half on, and he shoves them the rest of the way down, stepping out of them. He watches with interest as Summer tucks her breasts back into her bra.

“Maybe I should help you with that,” he says, reaching for her.

She laughs and swats at his hands, then seems to rethink it. “Would you mind unhooking me?” Summer turns, and he unfastens the back of her lacy white bra. She slips it off and adds it to the pile of clothes they’ve left on the floor.

Now naked, they both head into the bathroom that connects to his bedroom. He cleans himself up with a washcloth while Summer pees. It never occurs to him to leave, but she doesn’t seem to care that he’s in here with her. There’s an ease between them that’s always been there.

Afterward, they head back and climb into bed. Seth lies on his back as she rests her head on his shoulder.

He closes his eyes, taking in the moment so he can remember it later. He enjoys doing that, savoring particular experiences. It’s almost unreal having Summer here like this. Fulfilling fantasies he kept hidden deep within himself because he didn’t think they were possible. But it all changed when he saw her through the crowd at the coffee shop that morning.

“I’m sorry I ripped all the buttons off your shirt,” she says. “I hope that wasn’t expensive.”

“That was so fucking hot. Feel free to destroy them all.
