Studies: Tierney, Simon, & Charland (2011)

Participants: 77 secondary mathematics teachers in Ontario, Canada

Main Findings

Even in a system where the principles of standards-based grading are laid out in policy, teachers were not cognizant of all aspects and implemented only a portion of standards-based grading practices. A large minority of teachers considered effort in grading and/or graded students on improvement instead of attainment of standards.
