Would You Clone Your Friend?

This chapter is about why you shouldn’t clone your dog.

You might think this will be like reading an essay explaining at great length why you shouldn’t put your bare hands on a hot stove. But the point is not simply that you should not clone your dog. The point is why you should not do it—a point that mostly has to do with the idea of friendship and a sad story from my own life about how I totally failed to behave decently towards a dog. Hoping to make some sense of this by the end, I’ll begin with my own guiltridden conscience.
