I get it. I really do. How do you fit one more thing into the curriculum? How do you teach something with which you feel wholly unfamiliar and sometimes even uncomfortable? And why bother anyway?

To answer the latter question in the simplest of terms: because physical activity

reduces the risk of dying prematurely;

reduces the risk of dying from heart disease;

reduces the risk of developing diabetes;

reduces the risk of developing colon cancer;

reduces feelings of depression and anxiety;

helps control weight;

increases the body’s infection-fighting white blood cells and germ-fighting antibodies; and

helps build and maintain healthy bones, muscles, and joints.
