A Problem-Refining Activity

The purpose of this activity is to help teams further clarify their problem, practice flipping assumptions about their problem, and make any necessary revisions. In preparation for this activity, team members need to spend some time clarifying with one another what they already know about the problem. They will then nominate a spokesperson who can, in no more than two minutes, describe the problem, explain why it is a problem, and share whom it affects. The prompts and questions in Figure 7.3 can help groups get ready for the activity in Figure 7.4.
